Trek to Shey Phoksundo Lake — Nepal's deepest lake at 145 m, a surreal turquoise in the dry Tibetan landscape of Dolpa at 3,610 m — through a landscape that transitions from subtropical Karnali gorge to Tibetan plateau within 3 days walking. The lake is the centrepiece of Shey Phoksundo National Park; the monastery at Ringmo village on the lakeside is one of the most photographed sights in Nepal. Snow leopard are occasionally spotted on the lake cliffs above. The remote approach by flight to Juphal from Nepalgunj requires advance planning.
