Pyrenees, France · France
Walk the French side of the Pyrenees from the Atlantic at Hendaye to the Mediterranean at Banyuls-sur-Mer on the GR10 — 866 km across the full length of the mountain chain. The route stays on the French side, dipping briefly into Spain only to refuel in border villages. The western section through the Basque Country and Aragon is wilder and less walked than the central Ariege; the eastern Catalan section ends with a descent through vineyards to the sea. Most thru-hikers take 50-60 days; 28-35 days for those covering large daily distances.
