Wakhan Corridor, Tajikistan · Tajikistan
Trek through the remote Wakhan Corridor — the finger of land separating Afghanistan from Pakistan — along ancient Silk Road caravan routes through the Pamir highlands. The valley is home to Wakhi and Kyrgyz nomads living largely unchanged since medieval times. Passes reach above 4,800 m and the trail is unmarked for long stretches. No tourist infrastructure exists; homestays with local families are the only option. This is one of the most culturally and geographically remote treks in Central Asia.
