Dhaulagiri Zone, Myagdi, Nepal · Nepal
Circle Dhaulagiri (8,167 m) — the seventh highest peak in the world — on one of Nepal's most challenging and least-trekked circuits, crossing the French Pass (5,360 m) and Dhampus Pass (5,167 m) above enormous glacial basins. The route passes the Dhaulagiri base camp at 4,750 m and the Italian base camp, both in use by active Himalayan expeditions. No teahouses for much of the route; full camping equipment required. The approach from Beni involves 5-6 days of walking before reaching technical terrain. This is one for experienced Himalayan trekkers only.
