Chamoli District, Uttarakhand, India · India
Trek to the Valley of Flowers — a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district at 3,500 m where over 300 species of Himalayan wildflowers bloom simultaneously in July and August — and continue to Hemkund Sahib (4,329 m), one of the holiest Sikh shrines, on a separate route from Ghangaria. The valley entrance is 13 km from Joshimath by road; the Ghangaria campsite serves as the overnight base. The flowers include Brahmakamal, Himalayan poppy, and dozens of endemic species. Rain and mist are common; July and August are the peak flower months.
