Taplejung District, Nepal · Nepal
Trek to the north and south base camps of Kanchenjunga (8,586 m) — the world's third highest peak and one of Nepal's most remote major trekking destinations — through the forests and high valleys of the Taplejung district bordering Sikkim. The circuit linking both base camps takes 20-25 days and crosses the Sele La and Mirgin La passes above 4,700 m. The approach through the lower Tamur River valley is spectacular for its lower-altitude forests; rhododendron forest in flower (March-April) at mid-elevations is among the finest in Nepal.
