Overview

Trek the Santa Cruz circuit and surrounding routes in the Cordillera Blanca — the highest tropical mountain range in the world, with 27 peaks above 6,000 m visible from the Llanganuco valley. The Santa Cruz-Llanganuco trek is a 4-day classic; the more challenging Alpamayo base camp adds 3 days and reaches within view of what many mountaineers consider the most beautiful mountain on Earth. Huaraz at 3,052 m is the base; acclimatisation days at the surrounding highland lakes are required before any high trekking. The range is under serious glacier retreat.
