Overview
Cycle across the South Caucasus from Batumi on the Black Sea to Baku on the Caspian — a 1,000 km journey through Georgia and Azerbaijan, two former Soviet republics with contrasting cultures, cuisines, and mountain landscapes. The route crosses the Surami Range and the Kura River basin before the Kakheti vineyards and the border; the Azerbaijani section descends to the Absheron Peninsula through oil-field landscapes as surreal as any industrial heritage site. Cycling infrastructure is minimal; this is pure cycle touring on quiet back roads through hospitable communities.
