Mendoza Province, Argentina · Argentina
Attempt Aconcagua (6,961 m) via the Normal Route from Mendoza — the highest peak in the western hemisphere and the highest non-technical summit on Earth. The ascent is non-technical but the altitude is unforgiving; most failures are due to acute mountain sickness, not difficulty. Two weeks above 5,000 m in the White Glacier and Nido de Condores camps build acclimatisation before the summit push. Gusts at the summit can exceed 200 km/h; summit day waits for a weather window. The permit system and mule support are well-organised.
