Attempt Khan Tengri (6,995 m) — the most beautiful peak in Central Asia and the most northerly 7,000 m summit on Earth — via the north face from Base Camp on the South Inylchek Glacier in the Tien Shan. The mountain is technically demanding: a long ridge with exposed sections and significant objective hazard from seracs and rockfall. The glacier approach takes 3-4 days by helicopter and on foot. July and August offer the best weather windows. The view from the summit across the Tien Shan range into Kazakhstan and China is unparalleled.
