Dolakha District, Nepal · Nepal
The Rolwaling Valley — tucked between Everest and Langtang — is one of Nepal's most isolated trekking regions, home to the Sherpa community of Beding village (4,160 m) and the spectacular Tso Rolpa glacial lake. The valley is ringed by peaks including Gauri Shankar (7,134 m) and Melungtse (7,181 m). The crossing over Tashi Lapcha Pass (5,755 m) into the Khumbu requires mountaineering experience and fixed rope work; most trekkers descend the same way. Permits and camping equipment are required as teahouses are minimal.
