Overview
Circle Ausangate (6,384 m) — the sacred apu (mountain deity) of the Cusco region — on a 5-day high-altitude circuit crossing four passes above 5,000 m through landscapes of rainbow-coloured mountains, herds of alpaca and vicuna, and glacially polished lagoons reflecting the peak above. The route passes through the Vinicunca (Rainbow Mountain) area, now heavily visited, but the full circuit extends far beyond the day-trip crowds into genuinely remote territory. A recent luxury glamping option provides heated tents at high camps.
