The Elbe Sandstone Mountains straddling the Czech-German border contain the most bizarre erosion-sculpted rock towers in Central Europe, with hundreds of vertical sandstone pillars rising from pine forest between Dresden and the Bohemian Switzerland National Park. The Pravcicka Brana natural sandstone arch is the largest in Europe at 32 metres wide.
