Overview
The Paparoa Track is New Zealand's newest Great Walk, opened in 2019 as a tribute to the 29 men who died in the Pike River Mine disaster in 2010. The route traverses the Paparoa Range and passes the historic Brunner Mine site on the West Coast, combining mountain panoramas with industrial heritage. Mountain bike use is permitted alongside trampers, making this the only Great Walk accessible to cyclists.
