Overview
The Bibbulmun Track runs 1,000 km through the forests and coastline of Western Australia's south-west from Kalamunda near Perth to Albany on the Southern Ocean. The route passes through jarrah, karri, and tingle forests — some of the world's tallest flowering trees — past wetlands with black swans and southern boobook owls, over granite outcrops, and along isolated beaches where sea eagles fish. The three-sided timber shelters (waugals) are spaced at 18–25 km intervals.
