Overview

The Skeleton Coast of Namibia runs 500 km of fog-shrouded Atlantic desert coastline from the Kunene River to Swakopmund, one of the most inhospitable and eerily beautiful landscapes on earth. Shipwrecks rust in the dunes, Cape fur seals crowd rocky points in their tens of thousands, and desert-adapted lions and elephants survive in this extreme environment. Access to the northern zone requires permits or a fly-in safari; the southern section is reachable by 4WD.
