Taghazout Winter Points, Anchor to Boilers

Overview

When winter groundswell trains march out of North Atlantic lows, the argan-covered headlands north of Agadir turn into a right-hand pointbreak conveyor. Anchor Point is the jewel — 500-metre walls wrapping past the old fish-anchor factory that named it — with Killer Point, La Source and Boilers strung up the coast, and Hash Point and Panorama peelers in front of the village for lazier days. Taghazout itself has grown from hippy fishing village to full surf town: whitewashed lanes stacked with board-repair shacks, tagine cafés and surf-camp roof terraces where you debrief over mint tea as the muezzin sounds. Mornings are offshore off the desert; by afternoon you chase sheltered corners or take the van north to Imsouane's endless bay. Book a surf camp for the easy version (airport pickup, guiding, half board) or self-cater apartments and hire a van with mates. Agadir airport is 45 minutes. The trap is tide: Anchor's rocks eat boards at low, and the points need mid tide to line up properly, so plan sessions around the push. A week half-board with guiding is about £480 — one of the cheapest quality-wave weeks in this hemisphere.
