Volunteer at the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre in Sandakan alongside forest rehabilitation work at the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre — two of the world's most important wildlife conservation facilities, both in Sabah within 30 minutes of each other. Walk with rangers monitoring semi-wild orangutans returning to forest habitats; observing sun bears — the world's smallest bear species — in their forested enclosures provides context that sanctuaries elsewhere cannot match. Extend into the Kinabatangan River for wild wildlife viewing by river boat.
