Overview

Cycle the Skeleton Coast — one of the most desolate coastlines in the world, where the cold Benguela current drives Atlantic fog deep inland and created a graveyard of shipwrecks on the beaches — from Swakopmund north to Terrace Bay through the Skeleton Coast Park. The sand tracks between the beaches require fat-tyred bikes or bikepacking rigs; the distance from the outside world is extreme. Nights camping on the beach between mountains of fog, lichen-covered rocks, and the sound of breaking waves on a beach where nobody has walked in weeks.
