Kachin State, Myanmar · Myanmar
Trek toward Hkakabo Razi (5,881 m) — Southeast Asia's highest peak, on the China-Myanmar-India tri-border — through the Putao basin and the remote Adung Long Valley in Myanmar's Kachin state. The trek involves 12-15 days through jungle and rhododendron forest before reaching alpine terrain. The mountain itself requires a serious mountaineering expedition; many visitors trek to the base camp zone rather than attempting a summit. Political and logistical conditions in northern Myanmar change frequently; this is currently one of the most difficult adventure destinations to access.
