Overview
Upper Dolpo is one of Nepal's most restricted and extraordinary trekking destinations, a high-altitude Tibetan plateau world virtually untouched by modernity. The route passes through Shey Phoksundo National Park and the crystal blue lake, then crosses multiple passes above 5,000 metres to reach the sacred Shey Gompa. Peter Matthiessen immortalised this landscape in The Snow Leopard.
