The Hardanger Plateau is Norway's largest mountain plateau and the site of some of the country's finest cross-country and ski touring terrain. The annual Skarverennet race covers 36 kilometres of plateau at 1200m altitude, while guided multi-day tours from Finse station reach the Hardangerjokulen glacier capped by the plateau. The Blamo river valley from Myrdal on the spectacular Flam railway provides a classic descent into the fjord below.
