Alentejo Coast, Portugal · Portugal
The Rota Vicentina Fishermen's Trail follows the most pristine Atlantic coastline in Europe from Santiago do Cacem to Sagres along a route used historically by fishermen to access their boats. The 230-kilometre trail passes through cork oak forests, wild cliff tops, and deserted beaches where the Alentejo coast receives less than 10 tourists per kilometre even in high season. The Sagres fortress at the route's end overlooks the point where the Atlantic trade winds begin.
