Walk the Alta Via 1 — 120 km from Lago di Braies to Belluno through the heart of the Dolomites, following high-level ridges that give constant views of the UNESCO-listed towers and pinnacles that make this range unique on Earth. The pale rock takes on extraordinary color at sunrise and sunset: gold, pink, then deep purple as the light fades. The route uses rifugios throughout — comfortable mountain huts that serve full dinners with local wine, meaning you carry only a day pack. This is luxury adventure: hard enough to feel serious, comfortable enough to end every day well-fed with cold Spritz in hand. Several sections involve via ferrata moves — fixed iron rungs and cables assist exposed traverses — but overall the route is navigable without specialist climbing skills. The Cinque Torri and Tre Cime di Lavaredo sections are among the most photographed mountain landscapes in the world; on the trail you inhabit them rather than simply observe them.
