Overview
The Via Alpina Route 1 traverses Switzerland from Vaduz in Liechtenstein to Montreux on Lake Geneva over 390 kilometres and 35,000 metres of cumulative ascent through 22 Alpine passes. The route passes through the Bernese Oberland above Grindelwald, the Uri Alps, and the Valais peaks including the Gemmi Pass, connecting the most spectacular Alpine scenery in Europe. Swiss mountain huts provide excellent accommodation and the route is fully waymarked.
