Overview
The Fagaras Mountains in the Transylvanian Alps form the highest and wildest range in the Romanian Carpathians, with Moldoveanu peak at 2,544 metres the highest point in the country. The main ridge traverse covers 70 kilometres above 2,000 metres with dramatic limestone karst formations, glacial cirques, and the chance to spot lynx, chamois, and brown bear.
