Overview
The Alta Via 1 is the premier long-distance route through the Italian Dolomites, connecting Lago di Braies to Belluno in 120 kilometres along a series of dramatic ridgelines, via ferrata sections, and Alpine rifugios serving polenta and red wine at 2,700 metres. The orange limestone towers of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Marmolada, and Civetta appear in sequence along the route. The combination of extraordinary scenery and comfortable hut accommodation makes this the ideal introduction to Alpine trekking.
