Skaland · Norway
Senja, Norway's second-largest island, combines the Lofoten Islands' dramatic scenery with almost none of the crowds — jagged peaks dropping to fjords on the west and gentle agricultural slopes on the east, Arctic terns diving over fishing villages, and the midnight sun painting everything gold from May to July. The Segla summit hike (638 m) is the iconic route; the Husfjellet ridge walk is the quieter alternative. Eagles and orca in Øksfjorden complete the picture.
