Hendaye · France
The Pyrenees Haute Route is the high-level traverse of the Pyrenees from the Atlantic near Hendaye to the Mediterranean at Banyuls-sur-Mer — 800 km of mountain walking at altitude, mostly in Spain with regular dips into France. The route passes the volcanic Gavarnie cirque (the largest in Europe), the granite towers of the Aiguilles d'Ansabère, the remote Ordesa canyon, and the summit of Aneto (3,404 m), the highest point in the Pyrenees.
