Overview
The Iditarod Trail — 1,600 km from Anchorage to Nome across Alaska's frozen interior — is best known as the world's toughest sled dog race, but the trail is also accessible for supported expeditions and ski touring from Knik to Skwentna in the southern sections. Mushing even a short distance with a 12-dog team through boreal forest and tundra silence is a transport experience unlike any other on earth. The Yukon Quest route from Fairbanks is the alternative.
