Overview
The Mentawai Islands off the west coast of Sumatra host some of the world's most perfect surf breaks — HT's, Lances Right, Macaronis, and Rifles deliver long, hollow waves that break with mechanical consistency over shallow tropical reef. A 7-day liveaboard puts 6–8 breaks within easy reach, moving with the swell and anchoring away from other boats. This is intermediate to advanced surfing in a genuinely remote tropical island setting.
