The GR10 is France's great Pyrenean high route, traversing the entire mountain range from the Atlantic at Hendaye to the Mediterranean at Banyuls-sur-Mer along 866 km of mountain trail. The route stays on the French side of the border, passing through Basque country, the Hautes-Pyrénées, and Catalan foothills, with dramatic ascents over glacially sculpted cols and descents into villages famous for their cassoulet and Armagnac. Most trekkers complete the full traverse in six to eight weeks, though the route can be tackled in stages across multiple seasons.
