Richtersveld National Park, Namibia / South Africa · Namibia / South Africa
Paddle and hike the Orange River through the Richtersveld National Park — a UNESCO World Heritage Site of spectacular rugged mountain desert landscape on the South Africa-Namibia border — where the river cuts through 1,000 m quartzite gorges over 5 days. The Orange River forms the international border; camping is on the Namibian bank. The Richtersveld is home to the Nama people and a remarkable succulent desert flora with more plant species per hectare than the Namib. Canoes and kayaks are supplied by the operator; paddling experience is helpful but not required.
