Ride the length of Flores by motorcycle — from Labuan Bajo in the west to Larantuka at the eastern end, a 700 km journey across a volcanic island of spectacular Catholic missions, traditional ikat weaving villages, and volcanic craters filled with multicoloured acid lakes. Kelimutu Volcano contains three crater lakes that change colour independently; reaching the rim at sunrise requires a 4am start from Moni village. The road deteriorates as you go east; the final section over the Lio highlands involves significant off-road riding requiring confidence and experience.
