Overview
Riding from Ulaanbaatar across the Mongolian steppe and Altai mountains to the western border at Khovd is one of central Asia's great off-road motorcycle adventures. There are no paved roads for 1000 kilometres of the route, and navigation across trackless steppe and river crossings is entirely by GPS and local knowledge. Eagle festival timing aligns the journey's end with Bayan-Olgii's cultural spectacle.
