Overview
Aconcagua at 6962m is the highest peak in the Western and Southern Hemispheres and the highest of the Seven Summits outside Asia. The Normal Route from Plaza de Mulas base camp is a non-technical high-altitude climb, but the altitude is everything, and the permanent accommodation at base camp supports a sophisticated expedition infrastructure. Success rates average around 40% due to the extreme altitude and notorious Viento Blanco white winds.
