Overview
The Cordillera Blanca is the world's highest tropical mountain range, and its centrepiece Huascarán at 6768m is Peru's highest peak. The Santa Cruz Trek is the classic circuit of the range, passing sapphire glacial lakes, moraine campgrounds, and the Punta Union pass at 4750m with views of the Alpamayo face. Chopicalqui and Artesonraju offer technical acclimatized mountaineering above 6000m for prepared climbers.
