Overview
The Amur River forms the 4,444-kilometre border between Russia and China, flowing through the least-developed region of both countries from the Mongolian border to the Sea of Okhotsk. Canoeing the Russian bank through Khabarovsk and the Nanai indigenous fishing communities passes through Siberian tiger and Amur leopard habitat in the Sikhote-Alin UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The river's seasonal flooding creates the richest Siberian wetland ecosystem.
