Overview
The Lemosho Route is the finest approach to Kilimanjaro's 5,895-metre Uhuru Peak, entering the mountain from the remote Londorossi Gate on the western flank and spending eight days traversing the mountain's full ecological zones. The route passes through montane forest, moorland, alpine desert, and finally the Arctic zone of the summit crater. The Lava Tower acclimatisation at 4,600 metres is critical to summit success on what appears deceptively gentle from Amboseli.
