Overview
The tepuis of Venezuela are the flat-topped sandstone table mountains that inspired Arthur Conan Doyle's Lost World, with vertical walls of black Roraima sandstone rising over 2,000 metres from the surrounding savanna. Angel Falls, the world's highest uninterrupted waterfall at 979 metres, plunges from Auyantepui in Canaima National Park. The summit plateau of Roraima contains unique endemic carnivorous plants and crystals in a dreamlike mist-shrouded landscape.
