Overview
The Quirimbas Archipelago in northern Mozambique contains pristine coral reefs that are among the least-dived in the Indian Ocean, with whale shark aggregations between October and February providing some of the world's best swimming with the species. The UNESCO World Heritage island of Mozambique with its 500-year-old Portuguese fort is a stepping stone to the outer atolls. Dhow sailing between islands is the traditional transport and remains the most atmospheric way to explore.
