Overview
Jebel Toubkal (4,167 m) is the highest peak in North Africa and in the Atlas Mountains south of Marrakech. The 2-day ascent from Imlil via the Toubkal Refuge is straightforward in summer; winter conditions with ice and snow make crampons and ice axe necessary. Combine the summit with a 5-day circuit of the Toubkal massif via the Azzaden Valley and Tizi n'Ouanoums pass, sleeping in traditional Berber gîtes and eating tagine with mountain herbs.
