Jujuy · Argentina
The Quebrada de Humahuaca in Argentina's Jujuy province is a UNESCO World Heritage canyon running north from Jujuy city for 155 km into the Bolivian altiplano. Pre-Inca fortresses, colonial churches painted in local red-and-ochre pigments, the Fourteen Colours Hill of Cerro de los Siete Colores, and the carnival at Humahuaca town make this a cultural and visual feast. Altitude from 2,000–3,400 m; acclimatise in Jujuy first.
