Overview
The Pamir Highway (M41) from Osh in Kyrgyzstan to Dushanbe in Tajikistan is the second-highest highway in the world, crossing the Pamir plateau at elevations consistently above 4,000 m through some of the emptiest landscape in Asia. Yak herders, Soviet-era infrastructure, and the deep blue of Karakul Lake at 3,900 m alongside the Chinese border provide the backdrop for what cyclists and motorcyclists rate among the world's greatest road adventures.
