Overview

Walk the Arctic Circle Trail — 160 km from Kangerlussuaq to Sisimiut across the Greenlandic tundra, one of the longest established wilderness routes above the Arctic Circle — in 8-12 days through a landscape with no infrastructure, no trees, and no human habitation between start and end. Musk oxen and arctic fox are encountered regularly. River crossings require cold-water wading. Kangerlussuaq is reached by domestic flight from Nuuk, which took over the direct Copenhagen service when its extended international runway opened in late 2024; Sisimiut is a genuine Greenlandic town of 5,500 people with a remarkable craft tradition and dog sled culture.
