Trek through the Oze National Park — Japan's largest highland marshland, carpeted in mizubasho (Asian skunk cabbage) blooms in May and golden in autumn — then continue into the Nikko mountains for multi-day ridge traverses above traditional hot spring villages. The Oze marshland boardwalk protects the fragile peat ecosystem; off-board footsteps are forbidden. Nikko's waterfalls and mountain shrines connect the walk to one of Japan's most important Shinto and Buddhist heritage sites. Accommodation in traditional ryokan with onsen bathhouses.
