Portugal Azores Multi-Island Trek

Overview

Trek across several of the nine Azores islands — volcanic mid-Atlantic outposts with twin craters, steaming fumaroles, whale-watching, and whale shark diving all within a few kilometres of each other. Sao Miguel's Sete Cidades caldera is a 5 km double crater lake walk; Pico Island's volcano (2,351 m, Portugal's highest summit) takes 7-8 hours return. Faial and Flores offer sea cliff walking and waterfalls. The islands are less than 2 hours from Lisbon; whale watching season runs April to October when sperm whales, fin whales, and blue whales pass through.
