Climb Adam's Peak (Sri Pada, 2,243 m) before dawn on the ancient pilgrimage staircase to reach the summit sacred to Buddhists, Hindus, Christians, and Muslims — one of the few holy places shared by four religions. The 5,000-step ascent takes 3-4 hours by headtorch; the view of the perfect triangular shadow cast onto the cloud blanket at sunrise is one of Asia's great sights. Combine with cycling through the Hill Country tea estates between Nuwara Eliya and Ella — some of the most beautiful cycling in South Asia.
