Uganda Bwindi Mountain Gorilla Trek

Overview

Track mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest — one of the last habitats of a species with only around 1,000 individuals remaining in the wild. The trek involves 2-8 hours of dense forest hiking with a team of rangers and a professional guide before spending a non-negotiable 60-minute allocated visit with a habituated gorilla family. Encounters are at ground level; silverbacks may approach to within a metre. Permits are limited and must be booked months in advance; this is one of the most emotionally overwhelming wildlife experiences on Earth.
