Overview
The iconic Laugavegur hiking trail converted into a racing format, running from Landmannalaugar to Thorsmork through rainbow rhyolite mountains, obsidian fields, and glacial rivers. The 55 km course includes around 2,000 m of elevation gain and several cold knee-deep river crossings with no bridges. The race draws elite runners and strong amateurs from around the world each July. Qualifying requires a recent ultra finish; the start list sells out within hours of opening.
